University|College Experience
Sandor's passion is to educate. Sandor is an economics professor that specializes in global economics, with a specialty in buy-side analytics and economic development. Sandor has been teaching at CalState LA since 2010 where he primarily teaches upper division courses in statistics and global economics, such as international trade theory, international monetary theory, international political economics and economic development. Due to his private sector experience, Sandor has also taught courses in monetary economics and market structure. As a student, and now faculty member, formed a partnership with the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, where members participate in a symposium about US economic trends, provide forecasts of the federal funds rate, and internship/career opportunities at the Fed. Sandor, also, has been charged with the Calstate LA's Economics Department's Community College Outreach Initiative, where members of the CalState LA department provides information to community college students about CalState LA's Social, Applied and Business Economics program. The initiative has been considered one of the most successful programs within the department that Sandor was nominated as Lecturer/Professor of the Year.
Appertaining to his involvement with CalState LA's outreach program, Sandor is an adjunct faculty in East Los Angeles College's Economics Discipline. Sandor's approach to teaching garnered the attention of the Vice Chair of the Social Sciences Department, and as a result, has taught in the College's Honors program. Additionally, Sandor is one of the few instructors from both campuses that is QM certified for online instruction.
Private Sector Experience
Sandor was Vice President of Analytical Products and Research for fourteen years at Investment Technology Group (now Virtu Financial). Sandor created and oversaw the production of ITG's Global Peer database, which provides peer-to-peer transactions cost analyses for over 190 buy-side firms. Additionally, Sandor was product manager of ITG's FX Analytics and Multi-Asset Research Division. Sandor has written over one hundred custom research reports for clients, advised upper management on data validation and metric creation. Sandor's work has been featured in Pensions & Investments Magazine, Investment & Pensions Magazine - Europe, and Best Execution.
Sandor, who is also a member of the GuidePoint Consulting Group, has consulted for a variety of start-up firms and insurance companies, such as AAA. At AAA, Sandor led the implementation of numerous models for the Natural Language Processing and Actuarial Analytics groups.
Community Service
From a young age, Sandor has been active in community service. In high school, Sandor volunteered at institutions, such as Children's Hospital Los Angeles and My Friend's Place, to work with high risk youth in the Los Angeles area. This desire to help the community has continued into adulthood. Understanding the difficulty in building applicable skill sets, Sandor holds free online data science programming sessions. The "Data Science Seminar" series, as it has been dubbed, has participants coming from CalState LA, ELAC, LACC, My Friend's Place, Moorpark High School, and the University of Baja California. Sandor also created models that tracked STDs prevalence among homeless youth in Los Angeles. Outside of academics, Sandor is a certified archery instructor where he spends weekends teaching children archery basics.
